Numbers: Week 6

This week it is time to get familiar with the numbers. It is hard to imagine a day, even an hour without using numbers. Of course, you can use your fingers too, but that makes things quite limited.

This week I won't post a list. Rather, I recommend that you learn all the numbers, at least up to 7 or 8 digits.

Learning and knowing numbers is completely different. When you learn the phrase "good morning", you can just recall it when you meet people. Numbers are much more complex. In order to use them effectively, you need to have a good working knowledge of them.

There are a few things that you need to master really well before you really know a language, such as counting, dreaming, praying.

It is still somewhat easier to put numbers together, but it is more challenging to understand them quickly, even if you have memorized them. I would recommend putting lot's of practice into it. Find some radio or TV channels which most likely deal with numbers. Economic news, or weather would be a good start. And just listen to the numbers. First try to identify them, later try to understand them quickly.
